Some of his hobbies include photography, riding horses, camping, fishing and hunting. He currently works part time in Jackson Hole, Wyoming with a close friend catching and collaring mountain lions for an on going research project making winter a preferred time of the year. Dave received his Bachelor Degree in Social Work from Utah State University after which he and his wife, Amy, started their own business working in the mental health field with different mentor and skills building programs. He received his Masters Degree in Social Work from the University of Utah in 2002 and has continued in the mental health field counseling and running programs in the local community. Currently, Priestley Mental Health, Inc. has 10 employees and runs a number of different programs throughout Franklin County and surrounding areas. Currently Dave was appointed by the governor to be on his Juvenile Justice Advisory Board and sits on the Juvenile Justice Commission for the State of Idaho. He is the chair of the Juvenile Justice Council in the Southeast Region of Idaho. He has also sat on the regional Children’s Mental Health Council. Dave and his wife Amy have three children and reside in the local area.
